Short answer

Coaching mainly works at the level of goals, plans and conscious decisions. Hypnotherapy works at the level of automatic reactions — what fires before a decision. If you know what to do yet repeatedly don’t do it, the issue is often not strategy but reaction.

Key points

  • Coaching: goals, strategy, accountability, plans.
  • Hypnotherapy: interpretations, automatic reactions, inner resistance.
  • The approaches don’t compete and can complement each other.

Different levels

A good coach helps clarify what you want and how to get there. But if an automatic reaction stands in the way, another plan often doesn’t help — it simply becomes one more unfulfilled plan.

When to choose which

If you lack clarity and structure — coaching. If clarity is there but behaviour doesn’t change — it makes sense to consider working with reactions.
